POEM for Artist Book

Concrete Angel

She walks to school with the lunch she packed
Nobody knows what she's holdin' back
Wearin' the same dress she wore yesterday
She hides the bruises with linen and lace

The teacher wonders but she doesn't ask
It's hard to see the pain behind the mask
Bearing the burden of a secret storm
Sometimes she wishes she was never born

Through the wind and the rain
She stands hard as a stone
In a world that she can't rise above
But her dreams give her wings
And she flies to a place where she's loved
Concrete angel

Somebody cries in the middle of the night
The neighbors hear, but they turn out the lights
A fragile soul caught in the hands of fate
When morning comes it'll be too late

A statue stands in a shaded place
An angel girl with an upturned face
A name is written on a polished rock
A broken heart that the world forgot

Creating Bird Image in Illustrator

This is the bird image I created using Illustrator in class on March 25th. It was very difficult in the beginning to get used to the tools we were working with today, but after playing around with them and trying different things I started to get the hang of it and this is what I created. I tried to keep it simple and graphic, but still have the realistic effect of a bird come across in the image.

Adobe Illustrator-Personal Warning Label

Adobe Illustrator!

Today I started working with Adobe Illustrator for the first time. This is my image of what profession I would have chosen if I had not chosen art. This program was slightly harder for me to understand but after a while of playing around I started to get the hang of how the different tools work.

Dia Beacon Foundation

Attending the Dia Foundation was quite an exciting experience for me. I really enjoyed the atmosphere of the museum and was amazed by its size and sophisticated set-up. Even though everything is this museum amazed and excited me the piece that really impressed me was Sol Lewitt's Drawing Series. The Drawing Series consisted of many wall drawings done in materials such as graphite and color pencil. They were extremely intricate and large and the first time you view it you can not believe how meticulous it really is.
Sol Lewitt is an American artist who was born in Connecticut in 1928 and he attended Syracuse University. He also served in the Korean War as a graphic artist and there after he moved to New York and worked as a draftsman for an architect.A lot of Lewitt's influences came from the late 19th-century photographer Eadweard Muybrideg who did studies in sequence and locomotive. Lewitt's influences also came from his experience while holding a job at MoMa in the 1960's.
Overall Sol Lewitt's Drawing Series really impressed me and i was just in awe the entire time i walked through his personal exhibit.

working with photoshop!

Today we started learning how to use photoshop in class. This is my first mini project that I put together on my own without guidance. I still am pretty unsure how to do a lot of stuff in the program, but I am trying real hard to learn! The first attempt I had I accidentally deleted when I was playing around with filters so i started over and put this one together. I like it because it is simple yet still interesting.

Mr. Ronald Orlando

This is an acrylic painting done by Ronald Orlando who can be found on natureartists.com. He is mostly a wildlife painter, but more importantly he was my painting and drawing teacher back in high school. He has had a huge influence in my growth as an artist and it was him who raised my interest in painting. I learned so much from him and looking at his work really reminds me just how talented he is. This painting has such a serene feeling and it captivates me. I encourage everyone to go look future at all this work on natureartists.com

Degas' Paintings

Degas paintings have always seemed so beautiful to me and since dance is something that is huge in my life looking at his dancer paintings always has a deeper meaning for me.
